Last Month in iOS Development
A short group discussion about iOS- and developer-related news from the previous month.
Google Analytics: How any why to add analytics to your app — Wes Filleman
Advanced Topic: Analytics often times seems like a solution in search of a problem. However, if setup to capture the “right” data, analytics can give you great insight into how real-world users are using your app. Knowing how your actual customers are using your app can drive business decisions regarding future app development/features and where to focus to drive greater user engagement and ultimately more downloads, better reviews, and higher customer satisfaction.
We’ll start with a quick Google Analytics Swift demo to show how easy it is to integrate into an existing app. I’ll then bring up my MobiLinc app’s live analytics panel in Google Analytics and walk through actual live user data as it streams in real-time to demonstrate how I’m using analytics to drive decisions about my apps.
Singleton Pattern in Swift — Wes Filleman
Beginner Topic: One of the most common patterns in software development is the singleton. We’ll walk through what a singleton pattern is, why and where you would want to use it, and step through creating a singleton in Swift.
Wes Filleman is an independent iOS app developer since 2008 focusing on the connected home with the MobiLinc line of iOS/Android apps.
